Sue loves spending her time listening and learning from different perspectives - she dedicates a lot of her time working with various populations throughout Vancouver and volunteers with many different organizations other than Low Entropy. She loves her role as a Conscious Connections facilitator as she can connect with participants through meaningful and deep conversations!
I first joined Conscious Connections several years ago as a participant, and found a community of people who share in a way that I had not experienced in a group before. I was feeling lost at the time, and in search of meaningful community.
I'm grateful to have been with the same group since then, and it fills me up each week. Our group does not have topics. We share where we are at right now, whatever that may be. For me, there is a feeling of sacredness in the experience of being together in this way. We share deeply of our life stories, or simply hold space for each other without judgement.
Besides seeking meaningful connections, I also appreciate artistic outlets, especially nature photography, playing the fiddle, singing, and social dance. I delight in both the celebration of communal joy, and in the sense of wonder that sometimes just appears within, or is shared along the way.
Hi, I’m Emma! I was drawn to Conscious Connections by the name of the program in itself. As someone that strives to make meaningful connections with those who cross my path each day, I value spaces that inspire and honour presence, authenticity, and vulnerability. There is so much to be learned from listening to others, particularly those with vastly different lived experiences! In my free time I can be found wandering the beach, practicing yoga, painting, and writing.
A passion for connecting with others across their unique journeys - and sharing more than a few laughs along the way - led Justin to Conscious Connections!
As a facilitator, Justin has discovered an empowering new community, and the freedom to create inclusive spaces for exploring the subjects most meaningful to his own journey.
I am Afsoon Javanjoo,
I am from Iran, and currently, I have lived in Burnaby, BC, since 2019. I have done my bachelor's in Internet and Technology engineering in Iran and Master of business administration in Malaysia.
I like art, and I am a painter. I paint as a hobby and sell my paintings; apart from it, I love to travel and see the world. My goal in life is to make a change in the world, and through public policy, I can reach my goal. I also like reading horror or thriller books and watching horror or thriller movies. I enjoy researching, especially community psychology and learning about different perspectives.
Mental health advocacy and my passion for holistic health are what inspire, motivate, and get me out of bed every single morning. I feel deeply honored to support other people who identify themselves as trauma survivors on their complex journey to recovery. In the grand scheme of life, this is what will heal the world.
Hi, my name is Christy and I am currently living in Surrey, BC. I recently moved from Alberta after my life did a complete 360 and kick-started my journey of personal growth. That’s what drew me to be apart of Low Entropy. I volunteer as part of the CC program, but also write for the blog. I believe that truly expressing yourself is one of the ways that we can grow as a person. We can learn a lot from others when they are given a safe space to share their perspective freely. In my spare time, I love to volunteer with animals and people in need as well.
Growing up, I often found myself in environments that did not allow for an honest, open, and kind exchange of feelings and ideas. Being accepting, authentic, non-judgmental, and welcoming are therefore values that I foster in myself every single day, and look for in everyone I meet. At low entropy, I want to learn more about creating a safe space for people, and offering support and empathy in whichever way one may need. I am incredibly passionate about social entrepreneurship and hope to have my own organization focusing on STEM education for women someday.

Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! I value supporting the community around me and I am constantly looking for opportunities to combine my passion with service. Over the last few years, I've spent a lot of time prioritizing my personal development through therapy, mentorship, reading, and listening to podcasts. Through this period, I have learned to be kinder to myself, and to embrace the power of vulnerability. I've gone through tremendous growth in environments that allowed me to share my thoughts and experiences; This brings me to conscious connections today, because I want to facilitate in an environment that gives others the opportunity to do so as well!
Deniz joined Conscious Connections as a facilitator with the hopes of creating safe spaces in which people can feel comfortable connecting and sharing their experiences! A sense of community has always been essential, but its importance has been felt in recent times. The people around us are what makes life sweeter, and Deniz hopes to highlight this mindset in all her work.
Hi, I'm Darshana! I joined Conscious Connections because I love that it creates a space that encourages mindfulness, kindness, and empathy. It is where we can be our vulnerable selves, share our experiences, and connect with others on a deeper level. My hobbies include cooking, yoga, and discovering new music genres!
